Leicester Hindu Festival Council 2010-2011 Report

The Management Committee and Trustees of Leicester Hindu Festival Council wish to thank Presidents, Secretaries and Managing Committees and all of our Affiliated Organisations for their support during festivals Navratri, Dashera, Sharad Poonam, and Diwali. We are also indebted to the dedicated teams of volunteers who served selflessly throughout these celebrations.

It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages from different faiths and cultural backgrounds coming together to celebrate the auspicious festival of Navratri and Sharad Poonam at De Montfort Hall and Ramgarhia Hall. People also gathered in large numbers at Cossington Recreation Ground to celebrate Dashera and Diwali festivities organised by the Leicester City Council in partnership with Leicester Hindu Festival Council.

We wish to thank the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Leicester Cllr. Colin Hall, Cllr. Vijay Patel - Chair of Diwali Working Group, other City Councillors, MP for Leicester East Keith Vaz, MP for Leicester South Sir Peter Soulsby and MP for Leicester West Liz Kendall for supporting these festivals.

We are grateful to the City Council for supporting Navratri and to Festivals and Events Manager Maggie Shutt and her colleagues for organising Dashera and Diwali celebrations. We are deeply indebted to Santander for their sponsorship of Diwali celebrations in Leicester. We are also grateful to View Asia for sponsoring our Navratri celebrations and to Ram Jewellers, Ladlee and ICICI Bank UK for supporting our Navratri celebrations at both venues, De Montfort Hall and Ramgarhia Hall, to Canara Bank and Bank of Baroda for supporting our Navratri celebrations at Ramgarhia Hall and to Vision Road Show for supporting our Navratri celebrations at De Montfort Hall.
